WMW, WIP, DIY, HRH: The Duchess of Sussex’s Best Knitwear

“Put on a sweater and really great sneakers with a big scarf, and you’ll look so stylish. For me, they are an everyday essential.\” -HRH The Duchess of Sussex

I had to pause for a minute before I sat down to write this. I was shocked that this hasn’t already happened on the blog. All I can say is I’m sorry. I feel like I’ve been remiss in my duties. If you’ve been following me for a while then you already know that I’m a MAJOR fan of HRH! She is absolutely fabulous and there is very little that could be done to convince me otherwise. I just picked up a copy of her British Vogue September issue and she is currently on tour with her beautiful family. So now seemed like as good a time as any to break down the collection of gorgeous knitwear she has in her closet.

Luckily, I’m not alone in my Meghan obsession and there are several websites dedicated to breaking down her charity work, speeches, and fashion choices. One of my personal favorite websites for all things Meghan is called WhatMeghanWore.com. They are so fantastic about breaking down her outfits in record-breaking time and pinpointing the designers behind her looks. Most of my research and photos for this post came from there and I highly recommend heading over there if you are ever curious about where she shops.

Everything Meghan wears typically sells out within minutes of her being photographed in it. She has changed the lives of so many designers over the past few years just by wearing their designs once. I could gush on and on, but that’s not why you’re here. What are we supposed to do if we want to dress like HRH but we can’t afford her looks or we just aren’t quick enough to snatch them up? Well, luckily we are makers and the answer is simple… we just have to make them ourselves! Here are a few of her best knitwear moments and your next Meghan inspired WIPs.

\”As you get older, you become more comfortable in your skin and comfortable in saying no to things . . . I’ve also learned that saying no is just as valuable as saying yes. It’s something that, I think, comes with age and really having a sense of your self-worth. And then you make choices based on that.\”

(Yes, I know that these are not at all the same thing… but I couldn’t find any knitted body suits and I really liked making this vest. It’s a fun & easy pattern with a similar shape to the body suit. So that’s a win in my book. Let me know in the comments if you find a better match)

\”You can be a woman who wants to look good and still stand up for the equality of women. There’s no uniform for feminism; You are a feminist exactly the way you are,\”
