September was a fantastic month for new WIP inspiration. So many talented makers are putting out new kits, patterns, yarn, and books for the first time. Which is not an easy thing to do. You have to come up with the idea and get it ready for other people to test it. But beyond that, you have to overcome the doubts that can hold a lot of makers back from ever releasing patterns of their own.
I was thrilled to find out that several of the makers that are featured in this month’s Ur FOs decided to overcome this doubt. Many of the makers on this list made their patterns or hand-dyed the yarns that they used and the results are fantastic. The good news is that there are new makers for you to shop and admire on this list. The less great news is that your shopping list might have just doubled in size. Don’t blame me, blame them for being so talented!
I’m sad to see September go, but I’m glad that I get to send it off with such an incredibly special group of makers. So get ready to be inspired and let’s dive into this month’s Ur FO list.

Magda\”I really loved how simple yet classy this pattern was. The project was very quick and interesting (I’m definitely a project rather than process knitter). I was able to alternate between simple TV watching stockinette and a few rows of lace. I modified the length of the sleeves because I wanted to be able to wear the sweater in Summer. I’m planning to finish knitting them as the weather gets colder.\”

Jules\”This was my first ever brioche design, and only my second brioche project, so I was super nervous that I would screw it up somehow. My patterns never come out the way I initially envision them, but I usually love the finished project even more than the original idea! I named this pattern “Saturday Night” because the Bay City Rollers were on heavy rotation on my playlists while I knit it, and the garter squares and rainbow yarn reminded me of a disco ball. I love connecting the visual art of knitting to my favorite music, and exploring how I can use yarn to express myself and how I’m feeling at a given moment. Now whenever I wear this cowl I’ll have the song in my head too!\”

Also the pattern fits a range of sizes and is easy to modify, which is really important to me as a fat woman with measurements that don’t conform to the standards.\”
