First of all, I want to thank Kristy Glass for inviting me to be a part of the upcoming Knit + Escape event! Kristy was one of the first makers who really welcomed me into the knitting world when I was but a young granny. I am thrilled to be able to be a part of her virtual event Knit + Escape! On Saturday, April 10th I will be teaching Social Media Tips For Your Small Business at Knit + Escape.  It’s only two weeks away so I have a lot of excitement to pack into a short amount of time, so let’s get into it!

I made so many mistakes when I was first joining social media. So this will largely be a do what I say and not what I do situation. But the biggest mistake I made when I first joined the platform was taking tips and tricks from large accounts and assuming that they would work for my small start-up. Hint, hint, they didn’t! Many accounts offer advice based on what worked for them 5 years ago or even just 1 year ago and social media moves so quickly that what worked for them might not work for you anymore.

I want to help handmade businesses get that kick start. Through this class, I hope to set you up for success so that you start to build an audience that cares about what you have to say.

If you are looking to gain 10K followers overnight then this is not going to be the class for you. But If you are looking to build an engaged following. Then I can’t wait to share my cautionary tales with you!

And if you have questions that you want me to cover in the virtual event there will be time for that at the end of the class so feel free to send me a direct message on Instagram and I will try to answer it on the 10th.

See you soon!!!

What I’m Crushing on this Month…

Kiawah Sweater (crochet pattern)

The Kiawah Sweater is about to become your favorite grab-and-go pullover. Inspired by old photos of my Gamma and Poppy, each pictured wearing irregular stripes, plus one photo of me as a baby in a little pink striped onesie, this sweater combines all three into one cozy, meaningful design. The result is a relaxed pullover that plays with stripes in a fun and unexpected way, mixing varying widths and colors around the body to keep things interesting from the very first round to the last.

This sample was made using the delicious DK Yarn from The Wandering Flock.

The Rhinebeck Morning Shawl (crochet pattern)

This generous wrap combines multiple Knit Collage yarns for a textured, colorful statement piece that’s perfect for festival hopping or everyday wear. Work it from the point out with simple double crochet increases, finish with a playful scalloped border, and add tassels for extra flair. The mix of bulky fibers creates the ultimate hippie dippy aesthetic while keeping you warm from fall through winter.
